Summer Clerkship

The Norman Waterhouse Summer Clerkship Program is a great opportunity for final and penultimate year law students to gain hands on, paid experience within a leading Adelaide commercial law firm. Our program offers participants the opportunity to spend four weeks working within their chosen area of law.

As a Summer Clerk at Norman Waterhouse you are offered the opportunity to work with highly regarded and respected practitioners who are experts in their respective areas of practice.

During the four week program, you may perform a variety of duties such as drafting correspondence of advice, research and attending client interviews, firm meetings and events. Also, when the opportunity presents you may observe attendance at court and other pre-trial stages such as mediation conferences, negotiation and direct hearings.

A number of our practitioners began with the firm as Summer Clerks.

The 2018 Summer Clerkship will commence Monday, 26 November 2018 to Friday 21 December 2018.

Applications are open Monday, 2 July 2018 and close at 5.00pm Monday, 23 July 2018. Please click here for more information.

Selection Process

This is a great opportunity for you to show us your passion for the law and explore different practice areas and career possibilities.

We seek students who, not only excel academically, but aspire to be the best that they can be and have the attributes in keeping with our Core Values. We consider driven, engaged, well-rounded individuals who are committed to embracing new challenges and experiences.

With the fluctuation of workloads in our practice areas, it isn’t always possible for each of our practice teams to offer a placement, therefore, we ask you to include in your application your top three preferences.

Shortlisted candidates will be contacted to attend an interview.
